south of Silver City, hosts regular astronomy observations through its 14-inch
telescope (donated to the Park by Gene Simons), with astronomer Matt Wilson,
starting at sundown and ending just before 9:00 pm. The observatory is located in the roll-off
roof building just behind the Orion Group parking area across from Park
restrooms accessible on the right-hand road into the park. Access requires a $5 day pass per car load of
folks. Matt will discuss seasonal
constellations and their lore, the Solar System with visible planets and their
moons, and will offer observations on deep sky objects as visibility
permits. For more information, contact
