Independence


• In recognition of Independence Day, all Gila National Forest offices will be closed today. Normal office hours will resume Tuesday.
• Cowboy Breakfast by the Kiwanis, 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Gough Park
• Silver City Grant County Chamber of Commerce Fourth of July parade, "106 Years of Community Spirit," 10 a.m.

• Brown Bag Lunch Series: Curanderismo with Dr. Gilbert Arizaga, Silver City Museum Annex, 302 W. Broadway, noon. The event is free to the public.
• The Catwalk National Recreation Trail and area - located approximately five miles east of Glenwood - is open for public use over the holiday weekend. The trail offers a beautiful picnic spot next to Whitewater Creek, a challenging one-mile trail along the historic water line route from the 1890s, a trailhead access into the Gila Wilderness, a bird watcher's paradise and a sense of place that creates images of an earlier time. The fire danger at the Catwalk is extremely high in the Gila National Forest. Use of propane or liquid petroleum gas grills is permitted in the Catwalk Picnic area.
