Largest Fire in New Mexico still rages to the North of us


Driving to Las Cruces for Jury Duty last week.
    Its been a while since I've posted... Last week I was summoned to Jury duty. I served for 2 days on a Federal Drug Trial... being part of the judicial process was interesting. 
   Largest Fire in New Mexico still rages to the North of us... There have been days  where the smoke has been in the air but it has not been as bad as last summer. Yesterday the town issued a Fire Ban.
   It's 57 at this moment, the weather has been real nice. ... Richard
Today's Weather
Today: Sunny, with a high near 89. Light wind becoming southwest between 12 and 15 mph. Winds could gust as high as 22 mph.
Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 62. North northwest wind between 5 and 14 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

   Mining District Historical Mine Tour. 10am, beginning at Bayard City Hall, 800 Central Ave. Learn about the important underground mining history near Bayard. No walking required..  537-3327 to reserve a seat on the bus. $5; tour guide and brochures provided. .   
 Silver City Fire Dept Visit w/Kids. 10:30 am, Silver City Public Library, 515 W College Ave. Children will get to see the fire trucks and learn what each component is used for. 
   SOUPER TUESDAY.  11:30 am-1pm,  First United Methodist Church.   Sponsored by Bridge Community (a planned continuous care retirement village).   Soup, bread, dessert and drink $6. Two varieties each week.  Take outs available. Every Tuesday.  538-5754, 574-2724

    Veterans Administration Town Hall Meeting.  2 pm,  Allingham-Golding American Legion Post 18, 409 W. College Ave.  Veterans and their families will have the opportunity to talk directly with the staff of the VA Hospital from Albuquerque including George Marnell, Director of the VA Health Care System and Congressman Steve Pearce. Also a short update and presentation on PTSD care.
